Step back in time when you stay at Sheriff’s Cabin, lovingly rebuilt after the 2016 Gatlinburg wildfires. This mid-1800s, hand-hewn cabin with huge white oak logs and beautiful dovetail notching showcases the ancient art of chinking, which highlights the beauty and variations of these old logs. Located atop a private driveway in the historic Timber Ridge Community of Gatlinburg, a community of authentic and antique log homes in a truly natural setting, Sheriff’s Cabin boasts exceptional mountain views and is within minutes — just off The Spur — to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the national park.
Reclaimed from a Tyler County farm in West Virginia, Sheriff’s Cabin was transported and rebuilt by the Barnwood Builders in 2021 as originally featured on the DIY (now Magnolia) Network (Smoky Mountain Magic: S14 E2 on Amazon Prime). Each of the massive logs was painstakingly marked and tagged to enable accurate reconstruction and restoration of the original early settler cabin. At 465 sq. ft., this open-concept cabin features 14-ft-high stacked, chinked logs, exposed beams, and a metal roof. Other coverage featuring Sheriff’s Cabin aired in 2023 on the Magnolia Network (Barnwood Living Pavilion: S16 E3 on Amazon Prime).
Sheriff’s Cabin offers a pioneer experience without any sacrifice of comfort or convenience for up to 2 guests. It has a fully furnished kitchen, dining area, a gas stone fireplace, a ceiling fan, a 50-inch smart TV (Samsung), a stacked washer and dryer, a private toilet and shower area, and a clothes closet. At bedtime, a king-sized bed awaits for the coziest of nighttime escapes. Glass panels and windows and a glass door give natural light and allow for outdoor views.
The L-shaped porch, complete with rockers, a bistro table, and a hot tub, provides relaxed outdoor living. Here, cares melt away and nature is on display every day with natural vegetation, changing cloud formations, and colorful sunsets. Even rainy days offer cozy comfort on this ridge. Be watchful for bears and other wildlife as they stroll by. For outdoor cooking, the grill is conveniently located next to the parking area at this semi-private cabin in the Smokies. And there are only 4 steps up to reach the porch for easier unloading.

This was out of our comfort zone and the property was a great way to have a nice place to stay with enough amenities to be comfortable but not haves one bothering you. We really wanted a kid free trip. (I teach). The washer did not work well at all. It would not drain properly. We had to wash and then rewash a few times because it wouldn’t even wash all the soap out (just used 1 tide pod). Then the clothes were still sopping wet and took upwards of 3-5 bled to dry. Other than the laundry issue the place was great.

Very secluded and peaceful. Definitely a relaxing environment to be in. We saw a momma bear and her 2 cu s one evening when we got back from site seeing. Absolutely loved this cabin. The washer didnt completely drain the clothes that we'd washed, so I had to do that by hand. Other than that, it was amazing.

This cabin was very private and perfectly located between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Nothing was more than 20 minutes away. The hot tub does not have a hose to refill so you have to do with the water the cleaning staff puts in or buy your own to refill from spillage throughout your stay. The pictures do make it seem slightly bigger than it is but ultimately it is the perfect little cabin for a couple's getaway. Thank you for our stay

The view was splendid and the cabin was everything that the owners said that it would be. Sheriff's cabin has everything that you need. I am still smiling and would return in a minute. I didn't like to drive back up the mountain after dark but we were happy to be back to see the sunset before dark.

We pretty much loved everything, the place was very clean with everything we needed for a short weekend, hot tub was warmed up and ready for us and actually very clean. Stayed a few places before with hot tubs and they are normally questionable if they got cleaned or not. This time there was no question it was ready to go! The beds were comfortable and the views were amazing Our code had a zero in it and that button was sticking so we locked ourselves out before we could even get in but we called and it got fixed right away so no biggie. Also we went out our second day and didn't get back until around 11pm... a bear had ripped the cover off the hot tub which freaked us out for a bit but once we realized it was a bear and not a person and they were gone we relaxed and enjoyed our last night there

We had a wonderful stay here for our anniversary! Cozy, romantic and VERY private but still feel safe as it is in a community that has surveillance. The cabin is super clean and truly feels like home. The view in pictures do no real justice, must see yourself! Most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever experienced! Perfectly located in the middle of Pigeon forge and Gatlinburg, so much to do then go back to total tranquility! The hosting staff is fantastic, very attentive and quick to resolve issues as our code didn’t work one day. Things to note! We saw bears, a few! Very cool and they seemed to not care about us but educate yourself on what to do if you cross paths. The driveway is steepish and the bottom turn in is tight if you’re in a truck, take it wide. BYOC.. Bring your own coffee and filters! Lovely stay all around! :)

We had a great stay at the cabin. Check in was seamless. The cabin is as pictured and very clean. The view and back deck are awesome! One evening we had an issue with the lock code but it was handled very quickly via text which I was very appreciative of! My boyfriend and I loved our stay at “The Sheriff’s Cabin”! We couldn’t have asked for a better stop! The location is perfect and the view is so beautiful it could be on the front of a post card. I read some reviews complaining about to curtains (there aren’t any besides in the bathroom). Having no curtains was NOT a problem because this cabin is very private. We will definitely be booking a cabin with this company again in the future.

Great cabin up a VERY windy mountain road, which is a good thing and keeps it private. The place was spotless and the hot tub was great. It (and all of the other cabins on the mountain) is brand new, so while missing the character of an old cabin, the place is perfectly clean and modern. The gas fireplace and touching chairs are great touches.

Perfect couples cabin. Room for a few kids too if you have those. We recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains and want some attractions/amenities nearby.Pros:-View is amazing and you don't see/hear any neighbors-Kitchen basically has everything you need short of consumables-Internet is surprisingly fast and reliable for being that high up. Cell coverage is decent too-AC cools when its warm out. Fireplace gives you a nice quick warmup on cold mornings/evenings-Bed was comfy-bathroom was tight but plenty for one person at a time-hot tub was awesome-Within 15 mins of both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg-Super clean for a cabin. New build so very modern amenities. Cons:-We had a few lady bugs we had to sweep up. Wasn't a pre-arrival cleaning issue, they just kept getting in from somewhere and dying on the floor shortly after during our stay. Its a cabin in the woods so Im not expecting 0 critters but it was kind of annoying with how many got in. Might be a poorly timed seasonal thing too.-No blinds on the windows. Not even the bathroom. Felt like a fish bowl at night. If you easily get the feeling of being watched i suggest getting creative with covering the windows. Tips:-Goes without saying for the area, but the road going up to the cabin is tight and steep so be careful of oncoming vehicles. Going down is steep and curvy so make sure your brakes are functional.-Publix just north of the Cabin had everything we needed for the week but there are other options.-Bring blankets of your own and extra towels for the hot tub. -Educate yourself on what to do if you come across a bear. Don't feed them if you do. They aren't dogs and need to be respected and given space.

Location was so convenient to everything we wanted to do. The view is outstanding, and we loved the hot tub at night.It’s a really neat one room cabin, everything you can really ask for unless you’re with a larger group than 4 or so.The WiFi is really fast!Would definitely stay here again :)

Best spot on the mountain top! You gotta love having a HOT tube around with a very nice back deck to walk around and get a better view of the sky. Waking up to a sunshine inside of the cabin is a happy feeling! Everything worked and no complaints on anything inside / outside. Try it out!
