Description
Conveniently located just off The Spur — between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge — Life’s a Bear is a 768 sq. ft. two-bedroom log cabin ideal for a short or long vacation away from the bustle of normal life. Lovingly rebuilt after the 2016 Gatlinburg wildfires, this cabin delights with its natural pine tongue-and-groove walls, exposed beams, and metal roof. The living area has a gas stone fireplace and large windows for an unsurpassed view of the expansive Smoky Mountains. Here, you can relax and watch the 50-inch Samsung smart TV. The living room extends into the dining area and full kitchen. The stacked washer/dryer unit is housed in an adjacent closet.
Both bedrooms sleep two with ease and offer a ceiling fan for added comfort. The master bedroom has a king bed and an open clothes closet. The second bedroom has two single beds elevated for storage space below. For added privacy, each bedroom has its own vanity (with toilet) room. Each has an entrance to the bathing room where the five-foot shower and the jetted tub are located.
The porch extends the width of the cabin and continues along the far side to accommodate the hot tub. Of course, a table is available for dining, and the firepit – adjacent to the outdoor grill – will take your cares away while you gaze at nature’s bounty, listening to local wildlife and spotting fireflies.
Enjoy nature and all its beauty here at Life’s a Bear. Among the highlights are watching the early morning mist rise, the sunlight move across the mountainside, and the rosy glow of twilight darken into myriad evening shades. The quiet is relaxing as only the sounds of various birds in flight are heard. At night, the glow of lights from nearby Pigeon Forge along with the twinkling of cabin lights along the mountainside are evident. Come see it for yourself at Life’s a Bear.

The cabin was very clean. Beautiful view of the mountains and sunset from the porch. Seriously, beware of the bears. Even following all of the rules (empty car, windows all up and doors locked) we still had a bear try to get into our rental car and damaged the window. It probably would have been worse if we hadn’t seen it immediately and chased it off.

The route to this cabin was a little tricky due to the hills and sharp turns but that’s because we’re coming from a completely flat state and not used to that kind of topography. Life’s a bear was beautiful!!! The pictures do not give this homes views justice! The cabin is spotless and clutter free! It has everything you need and more. It is the perfect choice when wanting some privacy for a romantic getaway, anniversary, birthday, or even a small family vacation. Cabin is also in a prime location, only minutes from downtown Gatlinburg. I would highly recommend “Life’s a Bear” to any friends or family.

Beautiful mountaintop cabin with an amazing view westward toward the Smoky Mountains, we would absolutely stay here again! One room has a king bed, the other has two twins and just enough room to squeeze in a crib. Great location with a short drive in either direction to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Cleanliness was top notch. Convenient location to both Gatlinburg and pigeon forge. Being woken up on the first morning by a crew cutting the grass closest to the cabin with a weedeater and blower. Could not enjoy a peaceful start to our first day. Had hoped to enjoy the spectacular view by drinking morning coffee on the porch but could not. Crew then left.grass clippings on our auto when they were finished.

Cabin exactly as described, great views, road up to cabin could be a little tricky for less experienced drivers as there are a lot of tight turns and steep inclines (as to be expected with a mountain top property). Overall great stay.

Amazing cabin, everything was great. It’s hard to find because the street sign for the road it’s on says something different than the address. Also, the wifi instructions in the email were wrong. Luckily my daughter found the correct network and password inside the cover of the guestbook. We enjoyed our stay, super nice place!!

This cabin has a really thoughtful and pleasing aesthetic! The wood interior makes it feel cozy, and the big windows and front porch offer a lovely view of the mountains! It has great amenities: two toilets, heat/AC, wifi and streaming services on the TV, plus a hot tub. It's located about 15 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains Sugarlands Visitor Center and downtown Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. The hosts emailed and texted lots of information, and we were able to get discounts on certain attractions in connection with our stay. We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again if in the area! The road up to the cabin is thin, steep, and curvy (as to be expected) but thankfully paved. The hosts sent us directions (GPS won't quite get you there), but we still got lost because the road changes names unexpectedly.

Life's A Bear was absolutely gorgeous! From the stunning views off the Balcony/Hot Tub to the house itself, not one detail was missed. My Fiancé and I had such an amazing time and able to fully escape our hectic lives and just relax. The hosts were amazing and so responsive. Our only disappointment was that checkin was 4pm but we couldn’t get in until 6 because the cleaning crew was running late due to traffic. The cabin is well appointed and tastefully decorated. The view is spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed the porch and hot tub. We had a bear visit a few times. He left muddy prints in the driveway and we saw him wondering around the neighboring cabins one evening. Very cool!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this cabin for 9 nights and had an amazing stay! The description of the cabin is exactly what it says it is. The location is perfect! The cabin is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and 20 minutes from Pigeon Forge. The front porch offers an amazing view of the Smoky Mountains. The hot tub is secluded on the porch (offering privacy) and offers a great view of the Smoky Mountains. The cabin is very clean and new! The cabin is simple and perfect for a couple! There is not a lot of storage space in the cabin, so we used the room with the two twin beds as our closet space, which worked perfect for us! Plus, we each had our own bathroom! The master bed was comfortable… I just recommend bringing a blanket or your own comforter (the quilt on the bed is not heavy)… we used the comforters on the twin beds. They leave plenty of towels, hand towels, and wash cloths. I do recommend bringing additional trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and hand soap. We brought our own laundry detergent to do laundry being that we stayed 9 nights, but they do leave laundry detergent for a couple loads of laundry. I also brought cleaning supplies (there are none in the cabin). The kitchen is equipped with the essentials for basic meals… we cooked breakfast a few times. There is no water filter system in the cabin, so I do recommend bringing bottled water or a water filter of some sort. We did see 3 bears at the cabin one night… the one came up onto the porch! The owners are easy to contact and respond quickly. Overall, this cabin was perfect for us during our vacation! I highly recommend this cabin!

Must admit, the second bedroom is a bit short on space for “stuff”, but didn’t take away from our stay. Loved having bright lights everywhere…but, would have enjoyed being able to dim the lights in kitchen/living room.

Place is lovely , brand new cabin with everything you need Wonderful view of the mountains Only one thing is missing…the address doesn’t mention you need to go further and turn right on Smokerise then your destination will be on the left
